A Real Good Time

Here is a little story about how I disappeared for several days.

My sister Missi had some sad news. My sister's Carli, Aubrey, Elisha and I felt sad for her too. We wanted to hug her. "Let's go to Utah to hug her!" we say..... Then we spend much time coordinating, bribing and begging to ditch our children and drive to Utah very VERY last minute.

4 girls piled into my toaster for a long drive like this:
Photobucket

we surprised our sister Mihhi (Missi) and made her smile like this:
Photobucket

Then we drove up to Midway and hiked up a hill to my parents cabin in the snow like this:
Photobucket

Wearing Arizona shoes like this:

Then we surprised my parents like this:

Then we called up my twin and surprised him too so we could bond like this:
Photobucket

Then we began to have lots of fun doing things like this:
Photobucket

and this:
Photobucket

and we took fun pictures like this:

and this:

{I'm the only one that actually looks cold but it's just not true}

and we saw pretty things like this:

and this:

and finally on the drive home I slept like this:

and this:

As you can tell it was a week long girls retreat and we had too much fun to blog about. Sorry the pictures are so lame, I must of been too distracted to care. That was the wackiest last minute thing I have ever done and I am so happy all 5 sisters could be with each other for a once in a lifetime experience like this one. I am blessed!

I did learn a few things on my trip.

1st and most important: Snow, cold, ice etc are not my friend. I will stay put in Arizona for the winter from now on.

2nd I might be morbidly obese in a small body. My mom says it can happen {I might be dramatizing my situation}. My sisters are all so fit and healthy and it really makes me want to try it out again. {more on this later}

3rd my twin brother B-Rad is too hot and too much fun to stay single for long. I also think he should live in Arizona by me so we can hang out more.

4th. There is most definitely a such thing as too much junk food. Wherever the line was I rocketed myself across it.

and finally, I miss my Utah family already! Waaaaah. {But I am terribly anxious to hold my babies once more at the same time} I'm so conflicted!

and there you go. I hope to pick up the blogging pace in the next few weeks but you know me, you can't really count on anything I say.

p.s. Isn't it great that our blog is no longer private? You can thank Bret for whining about it so much and my HORRIBLE people adding skills. I apologize to the people who never actually got added. I intended to I promise!

Finicky

Bret tells me I am finicky. Naturally I want to disagree but my subconscious remembers my dad telling me the same thing a time or two. Just because I am captivated by a new interest before I can appreciate the last, doesn't give a man the right! So what if I have too many hobbies to practice in one lifetime. So what if my cell phone turn over is higher than UOP's employees. So what if I can't form proper sentences because my mind is busy conjuring up an idea. So What!

Ok, truthfully? I feel for the man, and my poor parents now that I think of it. They Must think I am like Corky From Corky Romano in the scene where he is accidentally exposed to an entire bag of cocaine and then tries to talk to a class of 2nd graders. {Except I am drug free of course, unless Dr. Pepper counts as an inhibiter.}

Example of my thought process at any given point in a day:

I need to go to JoAnns for buttons, glitter...
I should put glitter on that painting of the nest.
What if I put feathers in the napkin rings for a dinner party?
Tickle kingston for squealing.
Give him batman back.
Lo is stinky.
Lets go through the closets and box up the outgrown clothes.
I should get a label maker.
Look online.
Email, link, this blog, that blog, another blog, link, link, email..
Diaper change.
Put on "NIPE" aka Snipe. {Up}
Get down the letters.
Did I eat?
We need groceries.
I should make a list.
Can't find notepad.
Found Stamps!
I should print labels for x, y, z packages.
I will go to the post office to drop them off.
While I am out I will go to JoAnns because I need buttons, glitter...
Glittered twigs would be awesome for a center piece!

It doesn't seem exhausting until the end of the day when even I can't decipher my own thoughts. I don't question why he never understands me. Who does? But he loves me, and that's all I care about, and glitter.... I should buy a boat!

over and out.

Dear Peter

Dear Peter,

There is something I have been wanting to say for some time now. I think I am in love with you. I know it's wrong on so many levels but it's just that you bring out such strong feelings in me. I can't help that you smell so good and you're so soft to the touch. Sometime it seems like you know exactly how to meet my needs and not to mention you are ALWAYS there when I want you to be. I know I shouldn't be broadcasting this on this blog for the whole world to see but I can't help it. I compare you to all those other guys and I prefer you to all the rest. I try to resist you but then you had to be all sweet like honey. Even when you are gone it's hard not to think about you because the scent of you lingers to torment me so. I hate how you have this hold on me and what you do to my body. I'm sorry for making you hide in my closet so no one would find you. I just didn't want people to know about us yet. I was scared of what they would think when they found out how obsessed I am with you. I am sorry for being so possessive and not wanting to share you with anyone else. I wish you were more like Jif or Skippy, at least then I wouldn't want you so bad. I hate you! {I will see you again tomorrow}

Forever Yours,
Becki

p.s. I prefer you smooth, when you're crunchy you get stuck in my teeth.

still thankful

day 17: I have a beautiful HOME filled with lovely things. We have so much space to love and grow into and I couldn't be more pleased.

day 18: Bret works for the best company with some amazing people selling the best small business software ever. Pretty much a 3 way blessing right there. I heart Infusionsoft.

day 19: I'm thankful for my talents and for a mother who cared enough to teach me and sisters close enough to practice with.

day 20: I am loving it when I get to snuggle with my babies. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!

day 21: I have some pretty spectacular genuine friends who are loyal, honest, kind, and make me happy. A rare find.

day 22: Technology, I am a fan and might not survive without it.

day 23: Eagar, I said it and I mean it. Wish I was there now.

day 24: The gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know it is true and I love the blessings and promises that come with.

day 16:

still thankful...

day 13: Nicholas Sparks. I can't stop reading his books right now.
Photobucket

day 14: Infusionsoft's Outlook integration. Quite easily the most spectacular app known to mankind. Spectacular enough to get me to buy windows to run on my mac. That's right I betray my loyalties to my mac by infecting it with windows' operating system so I can use this fabulous plug-in that makes my job 10x easier. Thankfully I can toggle between windows and Mac OS X.

day 15: Tonight I let myself get carried away searching through old post on our blog and I stopped at a post from London's Birth. I stare at this photo of Bret and I holding this sweet angel sent to us directly from God. I some how saw our family in a different light at that moment. You see, I read these blogs of heroic women who make being a wife and mother sound like poetry and I long to have those same indescribable moments. Though I am far from being a diligent house keeper and I doubt I will ever be able to get out of bed before 7:30, I can say that I do have that ideal family I long for. I look at pictures of us together and think "I want that!" and I have it. That one moment from that one picture makes it impossible not to be thankful for my whole life because it all lead to what I have now. I find myself already missing that tiny little baby and those unforgettable first moments Bret and I spent with her. It certainly makes it hard to wait for our next one.

continued

day 5: Goofing around with my sisters. We think we are so funny and we desperately wish we were photogenic. My life will be in danger if I post the "other" pics.
Photobucket
{making fun of ourselves}
Photobucket

day 6: Wet eyelashes. There is something so serene and beautiful about them. I can't help but snap a photo whenever I have the chance.
Photobucket

day 7: The Nokia Twist. It could be the single coolest phone I have ever owned! In LOVE!
Photobucket

day 8: Moments like these and fighting the urge to have another. The first weeks are my favorite times in the whole world!
Photobucket

day 9: This book. "nough said.
Photobucket

day 10: This lovely piece I picked up at BlissFest. The husband is sweet enough to let me keep it even though he hates it. That's love.
Photobucket

day 11: kissing this face anytime I want.
Photobucket

day 12: ipods {specifically the touch}. what would we do without them? :)

3 and 4

Day 3: I'm thankful for this moment. Kb climbed into my lap, gave me a hug and kiss and went to sleep just like this. I just held him and enjoyed the moment.
Photobucket

Day 4: I'm thankful for a husband who is never too cool to dress up and act out on Halloween. Halloween is always a crazy time for us because Bret has to pick the perfect costume that makes him happy and and my costume always has to go with whatever he picks out. Although I hate the process it is always worth it to see him in his element.

{one of Bret's costumes this year was Kanye West which. I was suppose to be Taylor Swift}

TRaditional

I wanted to post November 1st to start my traditional Gratitude List but I missed it :( Let's be honest, it's not like I will actually be able to consistantly post something every day anyways so count on some of the days being combined in one post.

For day 1 I have been waiting to share my favorite hymn. I don't like to sing usually but I enjoy singing this song because it makes me happy. I whisper the words to my babies when I hold them and it's quiet. I Like the traditional hymn version the most (not the John Rutter version that is more popular) Hope it makes you just as happy as me.

idk what is with the slide show...

day 2: I found this stinkin funny video on a blog I found from another blog and sadly I don't remember who's but you've probably seen it and I don't care because it never gets old to me.

Something inside me tells me I love it so much because I can relate to the behavior.

We just couldn't say good bye

My mom had the Shirley Temple collection when I was growing up and I remember watching it while she was working on her many projects. This clip makes me want to go and buy the whole collection right now. I LOVE her.

Shirley also hosted and narrated The Shirley Temple Storybook Collection when she was older in 1958. Call me a weirdo but I NEED this collection for my kids. Are you kidding me with how stinking cute Winnie the Pooh is?

I think I am going to make a Shirley Temple wardrobe for Lo... and maybe buy her a curly wig since she is persistent on being bald.

Who doesn't love Shirley?

illustration to the former

What was I thinking when I didn't post a picture (in accordance to my former post)? Oh that's right, I was thinking I would keep a little dignity for myself. I see now that, that was unfair to you readers and that the story is incomplete without the illustration. I also forgot to mention that I was waxing my eyebrows for a special night I planned out for our 3rd year anniversary. At least I can pretty much guarantee he will remember this night forever.
{Fully exposed with no makeup, why bother with half an eyebrow anyway}

Can't wait to sport my new look in public!

I'm so Gangsta.

I made the mistake of waxing my eyebrows in the same room as King. It's funny how kids have perfect timing. Consequently I have half an eyebrow above my left eye. Don't worry though, it's only noticeable if you look at it. I am thinking about getting a temporary piercing there just to capitalize on my new gangsta look.

Surprisingly, I didn't react at Kingston, after all I should know better. Somethings are just not worth getting upset about, especially when it's as funny as taking off an eyebrow.

Better After

A few of my re purposed projects were featured on Better After by Lindsey. She just started this blog and thanks to her I have a million new ideas and ZERO time to start any of them. Thanks a lot! Be prepared to be amazed, jealous and inspired over and over again. LOVE it Lindsey!

Becki's 100 Things

For FHE tonight Bret and I finally wrote our 100 things about our selves. Bret's family each made a list of 100 things to share with each other so we could get know spouses and in-laws. We didn't mean to put it off so long but he was in school and then we were looking for a house and now that we are just waiting on our house we committed to do it. {Bret took a lot longer than me but said he would post his tonight}

  1. I have a twin brother named Brad which I share a special bond with that no one else can understand.
  2. I have been Married to Bret for 3 years and we have 2 babies whom I love more than life itself.
  3. My favorite color changes all the time. (Right now it is yellow)
  4. My favorite flower changes all the time. (Right now it’s a peony)
  5. I weighed the same amount when I met Bret as I did when I gave birth to Kingston (Bret doesn’t believe me)
  6. I love chocolate milk especially when I am pregnant.
  7. I learned to sew from my mother when I was 8 and I HATED it, now I LOVE to sew and I do so all the time!
  8. When I was in junior high I was in a band with all my girlfriends and we wrote our own songs and performed them for my sister’s friends. We were so cool! (none of us played any instruments)
  9. I only shave once a month (if that) because I don’t really grow body hair and what is there is practically invisible. Surprisingly my eyebrows turn into caterpillars if I don’t wax them though.
  10. For like 3 days I was convinced I wanted to join the air force in high school.
  11. I’m deathly afraid of heights. (which is why it was a good thing I never joined the air force)
  12. I love all things creative and artistic.
  13. I can roll my tongue in more than 6 different ways. (Bret just found this out last week)
  14. I am an avid Nie Nie (Stephenie Nielson) reader and dream of being an amazing wife, mother and example like she is.
  15. I used to memorize movie dialog and repeat them to anyone that would listen. I also liked to do impersonations.
  16. I think I tried too hard to get attention growing up.
  17. I hate green chili’s (except in Shelly’s enchiladas)
  18. I never get tired of watching Pride & Prejudice or the Notebook
  19. When Bret and I were dating I kept a journal of everything. I filled up 4 books of our emotional yet passionate relationship.
  20. I used to write poetry until I recently read some of the poems I wrote and decided I suck.
  21. I am extremely ticklish. (Bret tells me it’s mind over matter, that’s when I try to punch him)
  22. I love to people watch.
  23. I secretly dream of becoming a professional comedian. I couldn’t be more serious about wanting to be funny.
  24. It’s my job to make the bed every morning. I usually don’t make the bed until Bret calls me to let me know he is on his way home from work. Oops. Did I just admit to that online?
  25. I used to get to pick out my own box of sugar cereal for my birthday every year. I plan to start this tradition with my kids.
  26. One time a friend (who will remain anonymous) and I went to watch some fellows play softball at the church. When we decided to leave she some how drove forward and ran over the fence to the baseball field with her car. They probably wouldn’t have noticed except I was screaming hysterically and my friend had to tell me to shut up. They finally fixed the fence like year later.
  27. Growing up I would volunteer to hide in the hide-a-bed couch every time we played hide and seek and EVERY time all my siblings would sit on the couch with me still inside it. I fell for it every time (probably because I enjoyed the attention).
  28. I am not really into sports but I am actually a natural athlete. I don’t enjoy working out at all or being active for that matter but I hope to over come that weakness in the near future.
  29. I can remember running away from home with all my belongings in a plastic barbie suitcase. I would run away to the side of our house. I think my longest runaway was like 30 minutes.
  30. I have been held at gun point and escorted in the back of a cop car but was never convicted of anything and thus I have no criminal record.
  31. I was chosen to sing a solo in a school play but didn't got embarrassed until years later when I realized I can’t sing.
  32. I can’t read music either.
  33. I have a personal grammar and spell checker and his name is Bret. He even spell checks my text messages.{he hasn't checked this post yet}
  34. I am 75% deaf in my left ear and sometimes use it to my advantage :)
  35. I have only punched two people in the face. One time was my sister Carli (sorry sis) and I don’t remember why but I do remember locking myself in my room until my mom got home to save my life. The second time was when a co-worker intentionally blew cigarette smoke in my face and I let loose on his jaw. My manager said he had it coming :)
  36. I hit like a girl
  37. I have been told by 3 fertility doctors that I have an incredibly high chance of having twins because both of my ovaries ovulate at the same time . We’ll see about that. No twins yet.
  38. I dislike snowboarding very VERY much.
  39. In high school I was in advanced math. A few days ago I couldn’t calculate what 7x6 was in my head. Sad I know! Bret was disgusted.
  40. When I was 18 I got my personal trainer license and worked at La Fitness. What? I never said I didn’t like making other people work out :) I was a mean trainer.
  41. I went to a charter school in Phoenix for a semester and got two piercings. I doubt I will send my own kids to a charter school. I took the piercings out not much later.
  42. I am a Virgo, my Chinese Zodiac is the Rat and my color code is a mix of Red, Blue and Yellow.
  43. I would love to have a pet snake but Bret says no.
  44. I am not a morning person, unless it is Christmas or I am giving someone a surprise.
  45. I think I wrote a love letter to Jonathan Taylor Thomas once. Then again, I never heard back from him so I must not have sent it.
  46. I find pleasure in burning unwanted or negative keepsakes associated with bad memories like traffic tickets.
  47. I am really bad with names and may be guilty of using Brian Reagan’s “Hey there... Partner?”
  48. 2 weeks before I married Bret I went tanning in a super bed for my first time and the girl set the timer for the full time allotment and I not only burned badly but my face was swollen and puffy for 3 days. My co-worker got me a Red Lobster hat :) Thanks Steven
  49. Steven recorded my voice mail message for me almost 3 years ago and I have never changed it because I love it.
  50. I don’t sweat or at least I haven’t worked hard enough to sweat yet. Either way I am OK with it.
  51. When I met Bret I thought Kari was his girlfriend because she kissed him on the cheek. So I secretly hated her for dating the cutest guy at EFY and for being prettier than me UNTIL I found out they were siblings and discovered how sweet Kari is and now I love her to bits.
  52. I have a journal of comedy routines and ideas for when I go pro. Sad but true.
  53. I am pretty clueless when it comes to politics and current events so I rely on Rennai because she knows everything.
  54. I have a shooter (strained eye muscle) that pulls my right eye muscle so that my vision is angled and I mostly see double all of the time. {This sometimes causes me to get number on the dice confused} I should probably wear glasses.
  55. I used to know all the lyrics to every song on the linkin park cd. Man, I was SO so cool!
  56. I am an animal LOVER and Bret is not. I love doggies and especially pomeranians. My first dog Gigi was a white pom and she would follow me around my house. Then I had gunner who was a long hair chihuahua who was the most mellow and loyal dog ever, he died at a young age. My last dog was Je Suis my 2.5lb black pom who was super smart and sweet as can be. My heart broke when she was stolen on Kingston's birthday. I still think about her all the time. Someone please give her back to me!
  57. I have never broken a bone before.
  58. I dream of working with the Church Education System some day. Some of my hero's are Jeffery R. Holland, John Bytheway and Troy Dunn. I just can't get enough.
  59. I have a perfectly normal relationship with food. I eat food and food makes me happy in return. Sweets and I are particularly close.
  60. I may or may not have hidden a box of Twinkies last year so that Bret wouldn’t know and I wouldn’t have to share. Bret said I couldn’t have Twinkies’s for my birthday this year because they are toxic waste, then he went and ate hamburger helper.
  61. I am terrified of putting my hand down the kitchen sink.
  62. I had a beta fish named Ruby for 3 years. One day I was cleaning his bowl and he flopped out into the kitchen sink. I was too afraid to stick my hand down the disposal to rescue him but I also didn’t want him to die a slow death so I shut my eyes and plugged my ears and and flipped the garbage disposal on.
  63. I have frequent nightmares of aquatic creatures attacking me. They are so vivid!
  64. I have visited 16 states and hope to visit all 50 states in my lifetime.

  67. Whenever I can’t do anything Bret reminds me that I have zero upper body strength. As much as I would like to disagree it’s possible he might possibly maybe actually be right.
  68. My favorite veggies are broccoli and asparagus.
  69. Our first kiss was a magical kiss at the top of the Eiffel Tower. (in Vegas baby!)
  70. I am madly in love with my in-laws and wish we could live with them or see them all the time. I am so lucky!
  71. I am afraid of the end of the world, even though I shouldn’t be.
  72. I completed the seminary teacher training at ASU in 2 semesters. (anyone looking for a substitute?)
  73. I love to miss match.
  74. I hate lose hairs especially in the bathroom. Gross!
  75. I do not know how to type with my fingers at HOME. That’s right people I am a finger pecker.
  76. I love to dress up and eat candy therefore I love HALLOWEEN!
  77. It’s possible I may have made up a fake identity for a day or two once or twice to avoid an unwanted relationship.
  78. I need change. I go crazy without it. I get bored very easily.
  79. Cruises are my favorite way to vacation.
  80. One time I drove away from the gas station with the gas hose still attached to my car. Don’t worry I took it back.
  81. The older I get the harder it is to embarrass me. You can guess why.
  82. I happen to REALLY like poker which I think I am good at. I tell my self it’s ok because I only play for the satisfaction of winning. I also love watching the World Championship of poker. I have been a good girl though and haven’t watched or played in months.
  83. I am increasingly impatient and impulsive.
  84. I love surprises but I am horrible at keeping them a secret. I dislike when Bret tells me about a surprise he has for me especially when he makes me wait a long long time to get it, like a whole day or something. I am also a good investigator to figure out what my surprises are ;)
  85. I have not read Twilight at all this year. I should probably be kicked out of the fan club.
  86. I used to collect items such as salt and pepper shakers and silverware from restaurants with my friend in high school. Hey! You call it thievery I call it collecting. Plus I donated it all later on anyways.
  87. I can hold my breath for a really REALLY long time.
  88. I used to make myself time capsules and bury them in the back yard. The longest I waited to dig one up was a week because I could’t wait to see what I put in it!!
  89. As the youngest I used to get blamed a lot for anything and everything. (it was probably me anyways).
  90. I love junking and re purposing old stuff.
  91. I have experimented with tattoo removal. It can cost $1300 to have a tattoo removed professionally but it only cost me 20 cents. I recommend going to a professional.
  92. unfortunately I still have 3 and 1/2 tattoos :( I had bad judgment in my adolescence and went through a rough patch.
  93. I went to cosmetology school 5 years ago. Consequently I change my hair a lot. I really want to color my hair brown but Bret likes blonde hair :(
  94. I love to listen to audio books and my favorite show is The 4400
  95. I love to dance and watch others dance.
  96. I had really bad insomnia for 2 years. I spent many late nights at Denny’s eating french toast and chocolate milk.
  97. One time a guy bet me $5 I couln’t eat a tripple burger at Denny’s and all my seasoned fries. I had like 2 fries left and pretended like I couldn’t finish. He almost fell for it too until I ate the last fries while doing my happy dance. I should have made it $10.
  98. I am definitely not the most domestic person you know.
  99. one time (before I was 8) I went with my twin to his friends fort and we spent the whole day saying every curse word we knew for no reason. I don’t think we knew very many bad words but I never felt so bad in my life.
  100. I am generally a happy and optimistic person with enthusiasm for life.

I hate{ed} this shirt

This shirt has been in my closet FORevER! I never wear it... who knows why. I've been wanting a new shrug so I attempted to be a mad scientist again and turn my plain shirt into a much needed shrug oh, just because.
Ta Da!!!! It's not very great up close but I am definitely going to wear it. haha.

ps. how much do you love the vintage broach I used for the clasp?

Apricot, Teriyaki, Sesame seed Chicken?

"What should I make for dinner?" I think to myself.

hmmmm?

Teriyaki Chicken... but I don't have enough sauce. What can I add to it to make it go further? How about some apricot jam? I have heard of apricot chicken before, Ok! Now it looks a little plain.... hmmm? I know, I will throw some sesame seeds on it!

I'm am hoping it turns out ok or we might be getting Wendy's. I probably shouldn't be taking risks in the kitchen when I am not that great of a cook in the first place. I will let Bret try it first. I plan on telling him I followed a recipe. haha.

UPDATE:
The chicken was really REALLY good. I over cooked it bc I was cutting hair but I think definitely will try this experiment again. Yay for not destroying dinner.

Lime Ricki

I heard about these awesome modest swim suits by Lime Ricki on my friend Dani's Blog. I personally LOVE the Avery (see img) because of the ruffle but there are a few others I like a lot too. Just thought I would share in case others are on the hunt for a modest swim suit also.

Shelley's Closet

I forgot to mention that the blue evening gown and my red sundress were from my mother-in-law Shelley's closet. In fact she wore the red gingham dress when she went to BYU. I love wearing something with a story! She is letting me continue to barrow the red dress because I told her I totally want to wear it again.

Until it hurts

I was just sitting here in my home, stuffing rag dolls and painting faces when I started looking around my sad messy house. When I say sad I mean neglected and tonight I realized that my neglect reaches all the way to my family as well. *super sad face :(

I'm thinking of my sweet Lo asleep next to me who is perfect and quiet all day every day who I haven't taken a minute to stare at and adore, my rascally King of disaster who is eager to learn and play with who I didn't blow bubbles for and mostly my impressive Bret who I didn't squeal and jump on when he walked in the door. I wish I could be more like Bret in every way. He is so responsible, determined, frugal and disciplined. I can't help but morn over my lost opportunities in the past to praise him and acknowledge all of his hard work because I was "busy". I'm saddened at my overlooked chances to squeeze and hold him till he's blue in the face because I was "busy". I feel like a fool when I realize I am living in the future and not in the present (one of satan's easy wins). How easily I forget that any distraction is a BAD distraction from what really matters. Stuff is stuff, things are just things but people are living human beings. I want to yell from a mountain "wake up and LOVE your family" loud enough for my own ears to hear. I want to stop time from ticking so I can give my family and friends the attention they deserve. I want to tell my husband how much I need him every day and make sure he believes me. I want to go for walks with our children and laugh and play. I want to show my family I love them EVERY day. I want to kiss and hug them, play with and love them, laugh and cry with them, and spend ALL my time with them. I want to admire and appreciate, encourage and advocate, and adore them in every way. I want to ponder all the ways I can make them happy until my brain hurts. I think I will start today. I love you baby and I want to be better.
